This stone mortar from the early 20th century was once used in a provincial kitchen to grind herbs, spices, rice, and other foods. Hand-carved from a solid block of limestone, the mortar has a tiered shape that transitions from a square base to a rounded top. Etched lines pattern the mortar on all sides except for the smoothed interior, where daily use has eroded the original texture over time. Used as a decorative vessel or tabletop planter, the mortar's rustic form and weathered surface adds fantastic texture to the home.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
