With its simple, round form and even white glaze, this early 20th-century ginger jar is all about the decoration. Brushed with a brilliant cobalt blue, the jar is painted with a serpentine dragon soaring through the sky towards a flaming pearl, an emblem of the sun, of the moon, of balance, and of power. The sinuous dragon winds its way around the petite jar and onto the lid for a balanced design.
