Crafted of fine huali rosewood, this petite 19th-century box is highly decorated and raised upon a footed base designed to resemble a waisted kang table. The sliding lid is carved with a fretwork panel of lotus leaves and blossoms, symbols of summer, purity and perfection. Originally used to store incense or small objects, this ornate box is truly a work of art and the perfect place to stow cherished possessions.

Wear consistent with age and use. Minor restorations visible to one panel of fretwork railing.
