Crafted from a beautiful specimen of burled northern elm (yumu), this wooden document box likely once sat in the studio of a Qing-dynasty scholar-official. The perfect size for a rolled-up scroll, the box was used to store and protect works of calligraphy, landscape paintings, and official documents. The rectangular box is constructed with fine comb joinery with a sliding lid and lockable metal hinge.
