Wooden Rice Pestle

This long wooden object is a 19th century pestle, originally used with a large, free-standing mortar to pound rice or other grains. Placed upon a custom steel mount, the wooden tool lives on as a tabletop sculpture with a unique abstract form and timeworn patina.
