This early 20th century covered jar takes its rounded shape from serving tureens used to serve soups and stews. Contrasted by a crisp white field, the lid and sides are decorated with a joyous garden scene. Butterflies and cicadas flit between blossoms, symbols of happiness, and two magpies rest amid flowering plum branches, a blessing of good fortune and martial happiness. A celebration of life and color, the enameled tureen makes for a lovely accent to a bookcase or console table.

A twisted wire handle on the lid replaces the lost original.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
