Crafted in the early 20th century, this small glazed jar was once used in a Qing-dynasty kitchen to store vinegar, wine or condiments, as evidenced by its narrow neck and interior glaze. In contrast to its unfinished base, the jar boasts a thick, dark brown glaze, speckled with imperfections and pitted wear. Ideal as a vase or small planter, the jar has a charming, squat form, shaped with a wide base, rounded sides and a narrow, constricted neck.
