This intricately woven tray basket was originally used for harvesting grains or in a kitchen for food prep and storage. Despite its humble origin, the basket exhibits remarkable workmanship, beautifully woven by hand of willow and cord around a bent wood rim. The basket has been darkened by thin lacquer finish for a watertight seal, now faded with mottled, worn texture. Rich with character, the basket is ideal today as a fruit bowl, a serving vessel or a storied home for sundry objects.

“Over the years, I’ve incorporated many pieces from PAGODA RED into my designs. Not only can they balance new furnishings (and often new construction) by feeling more established, but the pieces emanate a sense of rich history, often leaving you wondering where they were in a previous life. These beautiful pieces carefully hand-selected by the team at PAGODA RED, coupled with their unbelievable customer service, make them a must-have for any home.”
