Entitled “Great Wall II,” this pointillist woodcut by renowned Chinese artist Ren Hui depicts a stretch of the Great Wall of China in a network of small notches into painted plywood. Red Hui's career has been an evolution across material and method. He began as a poet and photographer, but soon began working with cut paper. Hui eventually put down his scissors and picked up a chisel, incising the world around him into wood. He claims, “whatever the medium, my works are uncomplicated and honest.” Full of bold colors and high-contrast imagery, Ren Hui's modern pointillism feels effortless and joyous.

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
