This impressive Thai elephant sculpture was carved mid-stride from a solid block of white marble. A symbol of strength, loyalty, and longevity, the elephant holds great cultural significance in Thailand and today reigns as the country's national animal. The majestic creature is considered a sacred animal in Buddhist faith and is thought to carry blessings of luck and good fortune. White elephants, known as chang samkan, are particularly auspicious and were once considered a measure of the royal family's power.

Deaccessioned from the MacLean Collection of Asian Art.

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
