This monumental drum stool was hand-carved from solid limestone by artisans in Shanxi province over two centuries ago. Drum-form stools such as this were traditionally used in gardens and outdoor pavilions where upper class scholars read, wrote, discussed antiques and art and, in general, developed their inner sensibilities. This drum's grand scale suggests it may have been a column support. Today, the large stone drum anchors interiors as a display pedestal, or simply a statement on its own.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
