Miniature Folding Screen

This miniature folding screen from northern China is made from a nearly extinct precious hardwood known as huanghuali, a yellow-hued flowering pearwood. The delicate screen was expertly hard-carved cracked ice lattice and panels of flora and fauna, including deer, traditional symbols of honor and scholarly success.
