This offering table from China's Shanxi province dates to the early 19th century and was originally used to display an ancestor shrine in a provincial household. Incense, candles, and fruits would have covered the narrow table as offerings to the family's ancestors. The table front is sectioned into five panels, two of which are functional drawers decorated with a carved border and round iron studs. Each drawer is fitted with a simple brass drop handle and a sliding lock. The offering table has an otherwise minimal design, with a floating panel top, simple spandrels, and square legs linked by straight stretchers. Originally coated with brown lacquer, the table's finish has aged beautifully with time, left as-is to showcase its rich character and inimitable weathered texture.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
