This petite wooden vessel is sculpted in the manner of a traditional Chinese brush pot, a container used to hold calligraphy brushes and tools in a scholars' studio. Placed alongside the Four Treasures of the scholar - paper, brush, ink, and inkstone - this brush pot would have stirred the imagination and satisfied the scholars' taste for natural forms. Carved from a cypress tree branch selected for its swirling grain, the brush pot is ideal today as a decorative vessel, a pen cup or an unexpected planter.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
