This antique painted bench is a rustic example of Gustavian style furniture, the Swedish interpretation of French neoclassical design of the late 17th century. Retaining decorative carved elements such as fluted legs and scalloped aprons, Gustavian furniture exchanged the opulence of neoclassical design for simpler forms and light, whitewashed finishes. Perfect for a sun room, this pine wood bench has a simply carved floral back and a hinged seat that lifts to reveal a partitioned storage compartment.
