Believed to be powerful protectors against malevolent spirits, fu lion dogs have stood guard at the entryways and thresholds of sacred spaces for centuries. With miniature form, this pair of petite cast iron guardian dogs brings their protective power into the home.

A Japanese variation of Chinese fu lion dogs, the fearsome pair is known as shisa and carry similar connotations of yin and yang, the dual forces of the universe. Traditionally, one shisa keeps its mouth open to ward off evil spirits, while the other keeps its mouth closed to keep good spirits in. Offering protection from misfortune, these magical creatures stand guard throughout the home as bookends, desk ornaments, or tabletop sculptures.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
