Provincial Altar Coffer

This 19th-century altar coffer showcases the inherent beauty of northern elm (yumu) with a clean lined design and minimal decoration. Used for general household storage, the coffer has a spacious interior enclosed by six small doors, each pair secured with wooden handles and bolt closures. The coffer's rustic design stresses the horizontal with an overhung plank top surface, sloping spandrels, extended apron, and low-lying stretcher bars. We love its emphasis on natural wood and the depth of character earned through decades of use.
