This provincial glazed jar dates to the early 20th century and was used to store wine and spirits made from rice and other grains. The terracotta jar has a squat, round form with high shoulders and a gently tapered base. Marked with imperfections, a greenish brown glaze clings to the pot’s broad shoulders, dripping to a stop midway down the sides, above a lower half streaked with contrasting light and dark brown glaze.
