In an exclusive collaboration with PAGODA RED, each hand-studded piece by artist the bms. was transformed from a provincial 19th-century artifact into a one-of-a-kind work of art. Embellishing with silver and gold thumbtacks, the bms. adds a contemporary twist to our storied objects, animating each surface with bold and provocative designs. This cypress trough was originally used on a Qing-dynasty farm as a feed trough for chickens and other barnyard fowl. Marked by the artist's golden touch, the trough is re-imagined as a sculptural candle holder, densely lined with gold tacks. With its glimmering gold interior, the trough reminds us of the God of Wealth, often pictured with a magic inexhaustible casket of gold at his feet. Perfect as a tabletop centerpiece, this jin trough candle holder warms its surroundings with a twinkling glow.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
