With elegant proportions and simple design, this 19th-century Mediterranean olive oil jar has the timeless beauty of a Greek amphora or a provincial Chinese wine jar. The jar would have been used in the home to store olive oil or other liquids, as evidenced by the cream-colored glaze coating the interior. Ridges patterning the exterior add rhythmic texture to the gently tapered form and the raw, unglazed finish has beautifully aged from a century of use, darkened by a subtle patina. Set on a custom steel mount, this functional household object lives on as a sculptural glimpse of the past.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
