This charming set of brushes and jars was once used by a well-to-do lady to store her cosmetics and maintain an elegant updo hairstyle. Also known as a toilet service or grooming set, vanity sets were a popular wedding gift and were kept on the woman's bedroom dressing table. This sterling silver and guilloché enamel vanity set dates to the 1920-30s - just before vanity sets fell out of popularity with the rise of longer hairstyles.

The set includes nine individual pieces, including two brushes, three glass cosmetics jars, three glass bottles, and a lint remover. The tops are engraved with an intricate guilloché pattern and finished with a brilliant, emerald-green enamel. The result is a mesmerizing, translucent finish that catches the light beautifully.

From the collection of Frances and Gary Comer.
