Charged with the humble task of storing dry goods, this capacious earthenware jar is distinguished by its tapered form and beautifully irregular unglazed surface. Smoke from the kiln gives the vessel its depth of color, transitioning gradually from charred brown to ashen terracotta. The jar's high shoulders are stamped with a subtle pattern of shou longevity symbols and a simple meander. Tucked alongside a hearth or filled with ferns in the garden, this large pot is a wonderful addition to any space.
