Densely carved with an energetic landscape, this pierced panel was originally inserted to the ornate frame of a 19th-century canopy bed. Likely a scene from a classic Chinese novel, the panel depicts a group of young boys gathered around a farmer and his bull.

Carved to achieve a sense of depth, the scene is framed by rocky outcroppings and a canopy of trees. Architectural elements blend into the natural surroundings, including tall columns, lattice windows, and buildings in the distance. Presented on its own as a work of sculpture, this petite carved panel offers a Qing-dynasty perspective of an idealized past.

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
