Along with paper, ink, and inkstone, the brush was part of the Four Treasures found in a scholar’s studio. Arguably the most important tool, the brush served as a direct link to the artist’s creative spirit. Fashioned from ivory, the slim handle of this brush sat well in the hand, finely etched with auspicious symbols. A lush hank of horsehair bristles held copious amounts of ink to create graceful brushstrokes.

“I am particularly fond of PAGODA RED as we have known the family for so long. Betsy is a professional in every way and her intelligent taste comes from a long line of family knowledge in the arts. She and her team are the very best to work with and we find treasures with every visit!”
