This colorful porcelain bowl dates to the mid-19th century and was originally used as a serving dish for ritual offerings, placed before a home altar and piled high with fruit, baked goods, and other foods. The small dish has a quatrefoil form with flared sides and a short footed base.

The exterior is painted with famille rose enamel decoration of flowers and peaches, which are auspicious offering fruits and symbols of longevity. Rendered in a soft palette of pastel pinks, yellow, reds and greens, the delicately shaded designs are contrasted by a cool white field and a simple, copper-red border along the base.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
