The basic form of this three-tiered Chinese box has remained unchanged for a thousand years. Used like a modern lunchbox, each tier of this portable stacking box would have been filled with food and carried around by the handle. This example dates to the late 19th-century and has loosely woven sides set within a bent bamboo frame. The exterior is darkened by a thin layer of red lacquer and decorated with painted characters and simple brass hardware.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
