The simple form of this tabletop box is beautifully transformed by coats of rich lacquer and decorative painted motifs to become a fitting container for treasured objects. Crafted in the early 20th century, the treasure box depicts a scene of courtly life in Qing-dynasty China, framed by a meander border.
