This 19th c. bronze figurine is cast in the form of Garuda, a demigod and mythical king of birds in Hindu and Buddhist faith. Taking the form of half-bird half man, Garuda is a powerful protector and ever-watchful enemy of the serpent. This Garuda was originally used as a weight to measure quantities of opium. It is depicted here with a beaked face and wings outstretched, polished to a high shine with gold color.

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
