Meditation Serving Stone

Sculptural and unusual stone formations have long been fixtures of the Chinese scholars' studio, displayed as sources of beauty and creative inspiration. Known as scholars' rocks (gongshi), such stones were collected over time and appreciated as intriguing microcosms of the natural world.

Sourced from China’s Jiangsu province, this meditation stone slab was carefully selected for its biomorphic shape and array of soft colors. Following the natural formation of the stone, the slab has been polished to create an asymmetrical form and preserve its curved, undulating top surface. Rivulets of pink, green, and yellow color seem to flow across the contoured surface with irregular movement, contrasting the surrounding white marble. For a memorable table setting, we love using these stone slabs as unexpected platters or elevated charcuterie boards for fruit, bread, and cheese.
