This intricately woven tray basket was originally used for harvesting grains or in a kitchen for food prep and storage. Despite its humble origin, the basket exhibits remarkable workmanship, beautifully woven by hand of willow and cord around a bent wood rim. The basket has weathered gently from decades of use, burnished lightly by the touch of many hands. Rich with character, the basket is ideal today as a fruit bowl, a serving vessel or a storied home for sundry objects.
