This round stone disc originated as an early 20th-century threshing wheel. Secured to a wooden axel that ran through the center, the stone was rolled across stalks of wheat to separate the grain, pulled either by man or by ox. With simplicity of form and organic texture, the round stone resembles an ancient bi disc or a Chinese coin (qián), a symbol of wealth and prosperity. Set on a custom steel mount, the limestone disc becomes a minimalist sculpture, ideal for a console table or bookcase.
