Dated to the 1920s during China's Republic Period, this petite vase is decorated in a style known as Canton enamel, so named for the long-standing industry of export enamels based in the port city of Guangzhou, formerly Canton. Formed of copper and hand-applied overglaze enamel, the charming vase is intricately decorated in the pastel palette of famille rose porcelain.

Round cartouches on either side of the body enclose vignettes of seasonal flowers, surrounded by botanical scrollwork against a pale field. The vase's teardrop form is known as a yuhuchunping or pear-shaped vase and is defined by a rounded body, narrow neck, and flared mouth originally used for pouring wine.

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
