The graceful, hourglass form of these contemporary vases dates back as far as the Song dynasty (960 to 1279). Known as huluping or double gourd vases, the traditional form emulates the shape of calabashes, or bottle gourds, symbols of health, longevity, and good luck. The sculptural vessels are the perfect canvas for a crackled celadon blue glaze, contrasted at the lip by a warm brown and finished with a glossy, transparent overglaze.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
