This early 20th century bookcase once stood as the centerpiece of a Qing-dynasty scholars' studio. Considered a status symbol, books were given pride of place on impressive shelves such as this, stacked alongside precious objects and works of art.

Constructed with clean lines and open sides, this tall bookcase is unique for its four central compartments sectioned off by spindleback sides made of vertical rods. Darkened with a black-brown finish, the timeless shelf has modern appeal and holds its own in a contemporary office or living room.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
