"Divine Plant" Meditation Stone

Balanced upon a narrow base, the tapered form of this dahua stone resembles the auspicious lingzhi fungus, an emblem of longevity considered a divine and sacred plant. Meditating on its irregular composition, the scholar found inspiration in the dahua stone’s complex layering as a microcosm of the universe. Dahua stones are dredged from the depths of the Red River in China's Guangxi province, where a silt-laden current naturally polishes each stone and deposits layers of strata over time. Prized for its density and smoothed finish, this dahua stone is set in a simple hardwood base that balances its asymmetrical form.
