This early 20th century lattice window panel from China's Shanxi province likely originated in a traditional home with balanced interiors. Both functional and decorative, lattice windows allowed for fresh air and light to flow into a room while still maintaining privacy.

Assembled by joining long strips of carved wood, this lattice window has an even, grid-like pattern set within a square frame. The latticework is interrupted by five star-like chrysanthemums, symbols of autumn and longevity. For added dimension, we’ve backed the lattice panel with tinted rose-pink mirror glass for use as an unexpected wall mirror.
