Once used to hold stockpiles of grain, this capacious terracotta jar is distinguished by the energetic incised pattern covering its exterior. Using a simple forked tool, the potter layered the vessel with dense etchings to enliven the simply shaped vessel with visual rhythm and all-over texture. The jar was then cloaked in a wash of dark glaze, pooling and gathering in the incised crevices to accentuate the rhythmic pattern. An exposed lip adds further contrast and lends the vessel rustic charm. Tucked alongside a hearth or filled with lush foliage in the garden, this large grain jar is a wonderful addition to any space.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
