With open lattice panels, this four-part screen allows light and air to stream into a room while still providing privacy. A versatile feature to an aristocratic Chinese home, screens were used throughout sparsely furnished interiors to designate and set apart areas for eating, socializing, and resting. This exceptionally-crafted elmwood screen goes beyond the purely functional with intricate floral carvings, beveled moldings, and lattices fashioned of precisely interlocking pieces of wood.
