Renowned for his work with salvaged metal, American artist Gordon Chandler transforms weathered found materials into refined works of sculpture. Drawing on the innate qualities of his materials for inspiration, he creates effortless forms that seem as though they "just fell together."
Chandler has exhibited his sculpture and functional art across the country, including nearly yearly participation in Chicago’s Sculpture, Objects, Functional Art Exhibition since 1997. He is well known for his series of steel drum kimonos, buck heads, and reclaimed metal furniture.
Beginning in the 18th century, smoking opium recreationally became an entire culture unto itself, replete with beautifully crafted paraphernalia that expressed one's good taste and refinement.
Each step of the smoking process called for a different accessory, each an opportunity to impress.
