This intricately-constructed colorful train was painstakingly created by Yoruba artisans in Nigeria in the mid-20th century. Recent designs such as this were based upon sashes that signified the owner's spiritual position within the community and were worn in public ceremonies. The colorful panels depict densely-beaded turtles, chickens, and Yoruba faces - with vertical scarification on the cheeks - bordered by cowrie shells indicating wealth and status. Displaying exquisite craftsmanship, this Yoruba train looks brilliant on full display as a table runner or wall hanging.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
