Dated to the early 20th-century, these upright display shelves are constructed with lightweight frames, open sides, and low railings enclosing each shelf. The pair's clean lines are accentuated by a rich dark brown finish, lightly faded at the edges from a century of use. Once the centerpiece of a Qing-dynasty scholar’s studio, these open shelves were ideal for displaying stacks of books, scholars' rocks, precious antiques, and other scholarly implements. With streamlined sophistication, the timeless design of these bookcases holds its own in a contemporary office or living room.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
