Celadon Green Glazed Fishbowl

This low ceramic planter dates to the mid-19th century and was likely originally used as an indoor fishbowl. The basin has a round "alms bowl" shape, defined by gently swelling sides and a rounded rim that curves in towards a wide opening. A faux handle decorates each side of the bowl, patterned in low relief with spirals and auspicious ruyi. The exterior is cloaked in a beautiful celadon-green glaze, which has separated slightly during firing to reveal undertones of purple, blue, and gold. Tucked in a garden or sunroom, this ceramic pot makes the perfect planter for flowers and greenery.
