When the Art Deco movement reached major Chinese cities like Tianjin and Shanghai, the design aesthetic that emerged was the perfect intersection of European modernism and Ming-dynasty refinement. This round side table is a product of the era, crafted in 1930s Shanghai with simple geometries and supple, flowing lines. Topped by a circular glass table top, the round teak wood frame has a bowed form reminiscent of a traditional drum-form garden stool. Minimally decorated, this deco side table owes its timeless look to rich materials and simple forms.
