Dated to the early 20th century, this pair of rectangular display tables beautifully exemplifies the elegance of classic Chinese furniture design. The delicate silhouettes are defined by tall, narrow legs linked by floor stretchers and a waisted top decorated with oblong cut outs. A finely beaded edge traces the table's open sides and adds subtle detail to the simple form. Popularized during the Ming dynasty (1368-1644), tall display tables such as this were used to display precious objects, serve tea, or elevate burning incense. Originally darkened by a lacquer coating, the tables have been refinished to reveal the pale coloring and tight grain of their hardwood construction.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
