Petite Dogon Stool

Unlike the figurative nommo stools used by elders, this petite stool by the Dogon peoples of Mali would have been used for everyday seating. The domed seat and base are connected by a central post flanked by two angular supports. The triangular shapes created by the supports give the stool a graphic, geometric form at odds with its richly aged surface texture. We love this stool as a display stand for precious smalls or tabletop as a sculptural object.
