Carved from a single block of cedar (nanmu), this unusual stool is a variation on the traditional drum form popular in China since the Song dynasty (AD 960-1279). Minimally decorated, the stool gives the illusion of two smaller interlocking drums. Deep vertical grooves add to its rustic finish, a beautiful weathered texture that only time can achieve.
