A tradition dating back to the Northern Song dynasty (960-1126), wine tables have been used for centuries as a gathering spot to serve food, sip wine, and give toasts. This 19th-century elmwood wine table follows this time-honored tradition, but deviates from convention in its latticed apron and flush corner legs. The table's frame is carved to mimic stalks of round bamboo, a favored motif in late-Qing furniture, as it expressed humility for past construction methods and upheld Taoist values of naturalism.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
