This three-drawer writing desk dates to the mid-19th century and once stood centerpiece in the office of a well-to-do professional of the late Qing-dynasty. Desks with drawers such as this were strongly influenced by Western designs, and didn't become popular in China until the 19th century.

The clean-lined desk features four straight corner legs ending in hoof feet and a slightly overhung floating panel tabletop. The three drawers have aged brass hardware, the centermost with a large square lock plate, drop handle, and double gourd-form key hole cover. The wonderfully simple design is accentuated by a black lacquer finish, beautifully aged with gentle fading along the edges.
Additional dimensions: distance from bottom of desk to the floor is 24 3/4"
