Painted Lucky Fish

Hand-carved from reclaimed wood, this rustic fish sculpture recreates early 20th-century Chinese folk art designs. The fish is painted with a colorful palette of purple, red and yellow and finished with a beautifully worn texture. Common motifs in Chinese art, fish are emblems of harmony, wealth, and luck, and Buddhist symbols of "freedom from all restraints." Set on a custom steel mount, this provincial koi looks wonderful on a bookcase or console as a tabletop sculpture.
