In the 1930s, Shanghai, China was swept up in the Art Deco design movement. Design, architecture, art, fashion, and furniture were all influenced by this modern movement that permeated every part of life in the bustling, vibrant city.

Taking months or even years to create, this Chinese Art Deco area carpet is hand-knotted of vegetable-dyed wool for a soft color palette of green and dark pink. Enclosed by a salmon pink border, the rug’s quiet green tea ground is interspersed with delicate floral motifs, including flowering lotus, cherry blossoms and a garden pavilion.

From the collection of Frances and Gary Comer.

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
